Lucy bought a new desktop computer with processors and motherboards that are top of the line. She said her central processing unit has about 4 GB of random access memory and 500 GB of hard disk space. It will be sufficient to hold so many movie and music files. It cost her about her month’s pay but she used her credit card to pay for it and then arranged for an easy installment plan. Like zero percent interest for 12 months, Mike informed her of his latest gadget purchase using the same scheme and Lucy thought about it and decided to give it a go. I got my laptop using my friend’s credit card last year. I bought a compaq cq40 hoping it would do good with my work as an online ESL teacher. For the first four months it worked fine, and showed amazing performace with speed. The processor is a coreduo so the performance was incredible. However the LCD flickered at the bottom part of the screen. So I was worried that the LCD will just totally get busted. I hurriedly called the compaq trunk line and ask the warranty of their product. Ergo, I have to go back to the store where I got my laptop and wait for three months for the replacement. Within those months I hardly work because I don’t have any laptop to use for my online job. My friend who visted from Cebu came and noticed I don’t have a computer. She offered me her new Macbook which she purchased one month ago at the apple store. I was not so familiar with the apple thingy so I asked if do i need applecare protection plan. To my surprise she doesn’t even know about it! Well I understand my friend’s a technophobic so I just continue with my work while she was telling me her recent visit to Thailand. She was telling me how cheap the clothes were and how spicy the food was. I was used with my pc so I need to ask her how to connect skype to ichat. With this one I know she knew how to do it because she has been chatting with her husband who happens to be in Canada for a conference. We were laughing at how ignorant we are at these machines. She was still telling me her hilarious stories from her sea cruise across Asia. And I told myself I should have a break so I ended up at the sofa listening to her fun experiences while sipping a cup of coffee.

Don’t Let Anything Happen to Your Computer!

It was a very good morning and I just can’t help and feel like checking on my computer. I was scanning for viruses and deleting files. I surfed for another virus installation just to make sure I don’t have any problems anymore. I am doing all the cleaning and checking on my computer so that I won’t be able to encounter any problems like before. The last thing that really gave me a headache was the problem on my cd rom drive. I was trying to watch a movie and inserted my disc on the drive. Then nothing happened it did not scan the file either. I ended up trying to figure out what’s wrong with it. I checked on everything from the drives to the configuration I haven’t used more space so the file is not big enough. I’m so confused and tried calling my brother about this and he was an IT manager in a big company. He told me he would take care of it and send someone to see what the problem is. The IT guy he sent was so accommodating and answered all my questions. I even ask questions how can i identify my motherboard. He fixed the problem well and just did something on the cd rom. Before he left he even told me what to do in certain situations so that I would not have to wait till the devices and drives on my PC gets busted. The problem with cd rom drive is solved and I get to watch my favorite movies. I just realized that prevention is better than waiting for something to get busted before you start to worry.
