    System Utilities

    September 3rd, 2010 by admin

In most cases computer systems come preinstalled with utility programs which were created to help to take care of issues and achieve the best possible performance. Most of these utilities can be easily found by hitting Start and selecting the “Accessories” options and then System Tools.

After using a computer overtime, it can suddenly become annoyingly slow and ineffective so the system utilities aids to get the computer working back like ordinarily.

There are about five basic system utility tools, system restore, disk cleanup, backup, scheduled task, disk defragmenter.

The system restore is accountable for restarting the computer to an earlier time so if you install a new software on the computer which causes it to malfunction you can simply reprogram it to set the machine to an earlier date prior when the problem did not occur to solve the problem.

Disk cleanup deals with the excess clutter on a hard disk which decreases the overall speed of the computer by eliminating unwanted data to create more space. The backup utility is used to maintain an account of a previous time on the system so that if you needs to bring back particular computer information and settings, they can be restore to that particular time. Scheduled Tasks accesses a wizard so the user can set selected programs to start routinely at a selected time and frequency. So you can arrange a software program to backs up files daily at a time a time you select.

Disk Defragmenter also referred to as defrag, consolidate all the data segments in order to enhance computer productivity. Defragging your system makes the computer faster by setting up each file so it can be easily located after being requested by consolidating incomplete files. A file archive is the expression used for a computer program which combines several files together into one archive file, the record themselves or a series of archive files, for easier storage, convenience and transportation. Most file archivers utilize archive formats that provide lossless file compression to minimize the volume of the archive.

Normally when persons are transmitting a large collection of individual files over a network that sometimes experience temporary inactivity such as the web. The most basic archivers just compact a listing of data and concatenate their information sequentially into an archive. Information on the names and size of the original copies, must be maintained so that the information can be properly reorganized. Most archives store metadata on a file that the operating system comes with, such as timestamps, ownership and access control.

The procedure for creating an archive folder is referred to as archiving. Unarchiving is the definition used for the rearrangement of the original data from the archive.

The archives are placed where information of all kinds and formats are kept so it can be accessed for research and other reasons. Archives are excellent for storing personal and academical records of all types as well as mass media, ephemera, oral histories, and even artifacts. Archives are good for storing main source, both unpublished and published materials. Archives are at times associated with particular institutions to store information and publications of that establishment that are unnecessary on a daily basis.
