Reasons Your Computer Might Be Slow

    March 9th, 2010 by admin

Taking forever to boot up?  Not loading programs right away?  There are several reasons that your computer might be running slowly.  The most common cause of computer sluggishness is a buildup of excess files and folders in your PC.  Sometimes this can also happen in the Windows registry, which is a complex filing system of files and folders that contain preference and settings data.

If you’re running Windows XP, then you might want to do some Windows XP registry repair.  You can do this fairly easily nowadays thanks to some helpful software that has been developed just for this purpose.  The best registry cleaner that we have tested is a program called RegCure.  Made by ParetoLogic, RegCure is a fast and easy way of sweeping out the excess and invalid registry entries that can clutter and clog your computer’s registry.

The registry is where your computer goes to load preference and settings data for all the applications on your computer.  For example, when you load Word, the registry tells Word that the default location for files to get saved in is what you have set it at – usually My Documents or something similar.  When you change that preference in the software, the registry entry is changed accordingly.

If you’re interested in learing more about the program then check out our RegCure Review.  It’s a great way to keep up on the clutter and congestion that often plagues Windows computers.

Of course we always recommend ensuring that all your data is properly backed up before proceeding with any sort of cleaning.
