Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital Camera Review
May 19th, 2010 by admin
When looking for a Digital Camera there are many options to choose from, which can make your decision very hard. The first thing that you want to do, is consider what you need in a digital camera because your needs will determine which camera is best suited for you. If you’re looking for a camera that has excellent photo capturing, video capability, lens adjustments, and you’re a Canon fan, try the EOS 5D Mark II, which is the successor to the full-frame 5D digital camera.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital Camera, is great for families, photographers, and just about everyone in between. Check out basic specs and features.
Size: 6W x 3D x 4.5H
Weight: 1.8 pounds
Being that the camera isn’t a small photo shoot style camera, you get better quality images and a better focus strength for close-up pictures and far distances.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark II has a 21.1 megapixel resolution, which means you can enlarge the pictures to a great deal before losing any quality.
The high resolution viewing screen is a 3 inch LCD screen, which is great because you don’t have to squint to see if you captured your image the way you wanted. There’s a view finder, DIGIC IV processor, a 25,600 ISO, peripheral illumination correction, highlight tone priority, and interchangeable focusing screens. All this sounds great, and it really is. These are improvements from the full-frame 5D Digital Camera that improve image quality.
The EOS 5D Mark II can also take HD video up to about 12 minutes a clip.
Canon has also implemented a cleaning system to help repel dust from damaging the camera. You can manually activate cleaning by the menu option on the camera.
All these improvements are great, but how does the camera really function?
There are tons of new menu options and modes that help create the ideal image for the setting you’re in.
The burst mode is now at around 3.8 frames-per-second, which pushes about twice as many pixels as the 5D. The buffer is large, which allows for about 13 consecutive RAW files, which picks up speed allowing for more pictures.
The main concern, is that the flash isn’t built in and auto focus can be a little slow in settings with lower lighting.
Overall, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital Camera takes very clear and vivid images, has high ISO performance, and takes quality HD video. The camera is definitely an improvement upon the Canon 5D Digital Camera, and is a great investment for anyone who enjoys photography or is just looking for a new camera to take family photos with.
